MILES AND DIRECTIONS
0.0 Start from a small dirt parking area on South Woods Road just 600 feet east of AZ 85. Find a small black road sign for BLM 8001 thatâs labeled âMargies Cove West,â with an arrow pointing west. Take BLM 8001 for 0.05 mile west.
0.05 Turn north on BLM 8001 and continue for 0.5 mile, paralleling AZ 85.
0.55 Turn east on BLM 8001, following signs for Margies Cove West for 3.8 miles on a slight uphill grade through sandy washes and past low mountains.
4.35 Turn south on BLM 8001E, following signs for Margies Cove West. Continue south on BLM 8001E for 1.3 miles on a slight downhill slope.
5.65 Arrive at the Margies Cove West Campground and Trailhead at the end of BLM 8001E. (Option: If desired and prepared with a map, explore further [on foot only] south on the Margies Cove Trail into the North Maricopa Mountain Wilderness, generally heading south then southeast.) Return to your vehicle on South Woods Road by following the reverse directions: 1.3 miles north on BLM 8001E, 3.8 miles west on BLM 8001, 0.5 mile south on BLM 8001 parallel to AZ 85, and 0.05 mile east to the parking area near South Woods Road and BLM 8001.
11.3 Arrive back at the trailhead.
